urban babies love architecture

A friend of mine has a firm policy: no toys with too many small pieces.  They just make too much of a mess ... and how annoying when you lose a "necessary" piece!  I jokingly threaten to buy her daughter a Lite Brite ... but I have to admit that I agree with her.  So far, I've been pretty lucky and we've managed to avoid some of the worst offenders.  But now that Lego has introduced a Frank Lloyd Wright collection, I think I'm going to cave.  After all, I couldn't care less about the Death Star ... but it's a whole new ball game when you start talking about Fallingwater and the Guggenheim

Now it's more than "just a pain-in-the-fanny-to-dig-out-of-the-shag-carpet;" it's culture!  You know - it's the same reason my twins have Urban Babies Wear Black, First Book of Sushi, and Petit Connisseur: Art in their "library."  And if I had a daughter, she would totally play with a dollhouse like this or this.  (OK, OK, I know they are outrageously expensive, but we are talking hypothetically, remember??)  I mean, the least I can do as a parent is introduce them to some of the world's most extraordinary architecture, right?  The sets should be available for purchase here, but Fallingwater wasn't on the site today.  Don't worry, I'll try not to be devastated when Henry and Charlie tell me that they would prefer the Stegosaurus.  I draw the line at SpongeBob Square Pants, however!

Thanks to my long-time friend, Devin, for cluing me into this news!  For more details, read the official press release at the Prairie Mod blog here.

hello? is anyone home?

Imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this fabulous, very modern house nestled in the heart of Eastover.  I've never really noticed it before, although I must have driven by it at least several dozen times.  It's just soooo very surprising to see a house like this in Charlotte!   Personally, I love it.  It's not for everyone, but it's a really great look.  If this house belongs to you, I'm dying for a tour inside.  I anticipate that the decor will be just as unexpected as the house.  Pretty please????
